Seasonal Deal Calendar: The Best Times to Buy Each Category
A month-by-month guide to when each major product category hits its lowest prices on Amazon.
Amazon pricing follows seasonal patterns that repeat annually with reasonable consistency. Understanding when each category reaches its price floor lets you plan purchases rather than reacting to them.
January
Post-holiday clearance drives deep discounts on: televisions (retailers clearing inventory before Super Bowl model launches), fitness equipment (gyms are full in January but equipment pricing is soft), kitchen appliances, and holiday-adjacent décor. This is the best month to buy a TV that was on your list in November.
February
Valentine's Day temporarily spikes jewelry and gift prices. After February 15th, those categories correct sharply. Winter clothing begins clearing as spring inventory arrives — the second-best time to buy coats and boots after January.
March–April
Tax refund season increases buying across categories; prices stabilize or rise slightly. The exception: winter sports equipment (skis, snowboards) hits clearance pricing as the season ends.
May–June
Lawn and garden equipment, outdoor furniture, and grills are in-season and priced normally. Wait for these unless you need them now — prices fall significantly in August.
July (Prime Day)
Amazon devices (Echo, Kindle, Fire tablets) hit their lowest prices of the year. Tech accessories, smart home devices, and electronics see significant Prime Day discounts. This is the best window to buy Amazon-branded products.
August
Back-to-school drives laptop, backpack, and school supply discounts. More significantly: outdoor furniture, grills, and summer equipment clear out at season-end prices that can reach 40–60% off.
October–November (Black Friday)
The traditional deep-discount period. Electronics, appliances, toys, and clothing all see significant markdowns. Black Friday deals now start in mid-October. Cyber Monday has expanded to Cyber Week. For most categories, this is the best annual buying window after Prime Day.
December
Pre-Christmas rush inflates prices on popular gift categories. Post-Christmas (December 26–31) clearance brings prices back down — this is the window to buy gift-category items for yourself at post-holiday prices.
